Hanna & Ike Cancel Visit

Although both hurricanes Hanna and Ike had Long Island tagged in forecasts neither storm visited Stella Maris. We are happy to report that while we had some rain and wind there is no damage to Stella Maris or Long Island. Currently the Stella Maris Resort is closed for the month of September, a usual seasonaly closing, and is scheduled to open October 7th.

Long Island offers hundreds of sites and all depths on the Ocean and Lee sides for a variety of boats for small or larger groups. Fishermen enjoy Stella Maris fishing year round due to the presence of a major current stream, the North Equatorial Current, which originates in the Canary Islands and washes the shores of Long Island, transporting Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, and huge schools of Yellow Fin Tuna, Black Fin Tuna and Dolphin.
Inshore fishing for Bone Fish is a fly fisherman's paradise with average daily catches of 5 to 10, from 2 to 12#. Fish with our guides or explore some terrific wading flats on your own in our bay, just a stone's throw away! There are miles and miles of fantastic reef fishing with hundreds of species to catch and eat, including: Kingfish, Snapper, Grouper.
